Spotlight on Active Living Physiotherapy

SMALL BUSINESS WEEK 2021—SPOTLIGHT ON ACTIVE LIVING PHYSIOTHERAPY

It’s Small Business Week (Oct. 17-23), a national celebration that shines the spotlight on Canadian entrepreneurs and all they contribute to our economies and communities. Throughout the week, we’ve been sharing stories of some of Campbell River’s entrepreneurs and businesses.

Today we’re getting to know . . . .

Active Living Physiotherapy

Sophia Sauter and her family came to Campbell River from North Vancouver in 2012. Sophia, a registered physiotherapist, opened Active Living Physiotherapy in Oyster River that same year. The business moved to its current Willow Point location in 2015.

During one-on-one appointments, Sophia and her team of six physiotherapists and two kinesiologists help their clients with a wide variety of issues and concerns—from back pain and neck pain to other specific issues, such as vertigo, pelvic floor disorders, post-partum issues, headaches, scoliosis, recovery from surgery and various sports injuries. In line with their business name, “Active Living,” they also offer a variety of small group classes, including yoga, balance and bones, build your base strength, pool exercise, running groups and arthritis classes. Active Living prides itself on offering a client-centred experience, establishing a treatment plan that suits the individual and their goals, while incorporating evidence-based treatment tools.

“We firmly believe in being active for life,” says Sophia, “and we will do everything we can to keep our clients happy, healthy, and moving—whether that’s walking 10m with a cane, or heading to a national level competition.”

The clinic actively contributes to the community, sponsoring a range of local sport organizations as well as participating in community events.

“It’s important to encourage everybody, but especially young people (where habits can be developed), to lead an active lifestyle,” says Sophia. “We love being active within the community and staying involved.”
