Small Business BC Increases Support during COVID-19

Small Business BC is a not-for-profit resource hub for entrepreneurs.  They provide downloadable resources, education, events and one on one 30 min sessions with business consultants – and all of this is free! Since the onset of COVID-19, additional resources have been brought on to help businesses looking for help and guidance.

Before COVID-19 they received 270 calls per day, the first day of restrictions and recommendations pertaining to physical distancing and social isolation, the call volume increased by 150 additional calls.  In response, the organization brought on additional staff to answer the calls and respond to emails, implemented a call back system and a chat option via the newly created COVID-19 Support Service website.  So if you need help or have questions regarding your business do not be afraid to call due to hold times – they have it covered!

The websites are loaded with resources and information so here are the highlights to catch your interest:

·         Talk to an Expert – over video call or phone, you can sign up for one on one sessions with experts in the fields of law, technology, website, accounting and human resources (to name a few).  This is specifically tailored to you and your business questions and can help you pivot your offerings or regain your market share with online sales.

·         Webinars and Digital Meetups– online webinars and meet ups are a way to connect to others in this time of isolation and hear what businesses across BC are doing to stay relevant and manage working in this new reality of social isolation and online e commerce.  No time to watch the live events?  All of the previous recording are available to watch at your convenience.

·         Small Business Marketplace – if you are open during COVID-19, you can add your business to this online platform that is specifically designed to promote open businesses during the pandemic.  It is categorized into type of business and location.  It is also a good resource for researching other businesses in your niche throughout the province and how they have adapted to the current situation and created an online presence.

·         Support Directory – looking for government programs and services, this directory is updated with the most current information daily.

Now is a time to tap into the resources available, to seek out the support you need.  Together we survive to thrive as a community.
